Crashmann Sandtrooper Pack

May 1, 2010 | In: Builds

My Crashmann pack build.  Including my replica Sonix Victory radio via MH.  For the bottom of the syphon I actually cut a hole that was just the size of the top of the “ridged” piece… then I force it in… literally “snapping” it in place.  I used the hinges off an old humidor to attach the SONIX VICTORY radio to the back plate… which was, in turn, attached to the blue seed tray. Worked great! I’ll add a latch and then will be able to get into it if I need to.

I moved the side-tube back to the frame. So I had to patch the holes I had drilled in the bottom seed trays. No biggie.

I sanded down my top wet-wipes container and left the sanded paint rough then painted it again. It gives it a weathered look and makes it look like it’s painted metal that has rust or something on it.

I decided to paint my radio black, but I didn’t want the dial black, and I painted it really lightly over the decals so you can still see them. It turned out awesome! Now you can tell it’s uber-accurate, but it’s black and matches the rest of my pack.

The last 3 pictures are of the final pack as it is now with the new syphon from Gordonator and new strapping system.
